Corona Virus In Antigua

The citizens of Antigua\Barbuda's lives, liberty, and livelihood never been threatened by a hostile unknown biological entity since the Spanish flue Influenza in 1918. Various types of viruses pass through the Caribbean periodically with very few fatalities and hardly any impact on the economies, but COVID-19 is a novel virus, unlike anything we experienced before.

The virus appears to be following the pattern of the HINI Influenza virus known as the Spanish flu pandemic that lasted from 1918 to 1920 and took the lives of approximately 50 million people around the world. No one knows how or when this pandemic will end, but the rapid pace of COVID-19 infection around the globe proves that no one is safe, and that's scary.

I am not sure if Antigua and Barbuda are prepared and adequately equipped to address and overcome the social, financial, and economic challenges posed by the Coronavirus. People usually turn to their government to provide support, comfort, and assurance in times of crisis because It's the best and only option in some cases, but can you depend on it?

Unless you're living in denial, the answer is no! However, If you are one of the presumable few that believe you can, the stalk reality is, "most governments need help in unexpected life and death crisis," even those who can help themselves. The pandemic is a life-changing phenomenon that could reap havoc in the region for years. Who is going to help Antigua and Barbuda? Will it arrive in time to save lives?

Look at what's happening to the rich countries with the best medical emergency services, doctors, scientific minds, and the latest state of the art technologies. Not only were they caught off guard, but It's also apparent they were ill-prepared and are struggling to find a cure to address the crisis. National crisis test the stuff politicians are made of and expose political incompetence if and where ever it exists.
